Don't know who said it, but there is this quote stuck in my head that says something like..."ignorant people are ignorant because they have so much low level information to plow through."
In our life there are important things to know and some not so important things. I learned from Andrew Zimmer, TV personality, that camel's milk does not curdle. There is a Superman somewhere in every episode of Seinfeld. I am told that the word "stewardesses" is the longest word that is typed with only the left hand. There is only 3 words in the English language that start with "dw"....(dwell, dwarf, dwindle).
I like the trivial as much as the next person, but lets be honest...they lack the power to fuel a life and to produce wonder and meaning; truths that blaze with mystery and undefinability. I am not talking about gleaning more information for some holy information test in the future, but I am talking about building a relationship with God Himself. This is a journey that does not end, like any spiritual journey, the questions people have like "where are you?" or "how far have you come?" are secondary to the fact that you are on the journey road itself. Growth, movement and direction of travel are more important than location.
